Message from the CEO
In the two months since I joined Port of Melbourne as CEO I’ve had the opportunity to get out and about and visit a number of our stakeholders. I’ve also inspected several of the Port’s projects which aim to accommodate the trade requirements at Port of Melbourne. The Port is undoubtedly a vibrant centre of activity and investment here in the heart of Melbourne. I’ve been impressed by the commitment of everyone I’ve met to deliver for all Australians in our role as the busiest general cargo and container port in the country.
In these Covid-affected times, Port of Melbourne and our extensive network of port users have continued to navigate what remain extremely challenging circumstances for everyone in the maritime supply chain and logistics sectors. With trade volume through the port nearing $3bn annually, our role includes supporting both the smooth operation of the port today as well as preparing for the trade growth and increased capacity required at the port into the future.
This update covers several of the key projects we are working on here at the Port as we invest in our vital part of the national supply chain. I look forward to working with our stakeholders and the community as we bring these projects to fruition. As always, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you’d like further information – contact details can be found at the end of this Update.
Best regards
Saul Cannon, CEO
